Getting started
Is the library free?
Yes — the education library and browsing are free for everyone, always. You only need full access for the full Solar Assistant.
Who made the training videos and guides?
The training material for the Australian market has been provided by DCI Industries Pty Ltd, as a partnership between SG Nexus Solar and DCI Industries Pty Ltd. SG Nexus itself is a product of DCI Industries LLC. They are two separate companies with similar names: DCI Industries LLC (United States) owns and operates the platform, and DCI Industries Pty Ltd (Australia) supplied the Australian training content.
Is SG Nexus live now?
Yes. The Library is free for everyone, and full access adds the Solar Assistant and everything else that is live today. Find an installer is the one section still closed — it opens once the installer directory is ready.
What is the notice board?
It’s where we post platform announcements — what’s new, what’s changing and what’s opening. Newest first, with the date each one was posted; tap a title to read it. You’ll also get a notification when something new goes up, so you don’t have to check it.
Can I put SG Nexus on my phone?
Yes, and there’s no app store involved. Open Account → Install the app and follow the prompt, and SG Nexus opens from your Home Screen or desktop like any other app. It’s the same account and the same data either way.
The Nexus assistant
Do I have to pay to use the Solar Assistant?
You get a complimentary trial of the Solar Assistant — 10 questions. After that, choose full access to keep the conversation going. The library and browsing stay free either way.
Where do Nexus’s answers come from?
Nexus answers only from our verified solar library — never a sales pitch and never made-up. If something isn’t in the library yet, Nexus will say so rather than guess.
Membership & billing
How do I upgrade my access?
Open Account (bottom left) → Subscription → Get Full Access, pick the plan that suits you, and you’ll go straight to secure checkout. Card details are entered on Stripe — we never see or store your card. If you’re already on a paid plan, the same section has Change my subscription instead.
Can I change or downgrade my plan?
Yes, and it’s self-serve — Account → Subscription → Change plan. Upgrades take effect straight away and you’re credited for the period you’ve already paid. Downgrades, and any move from annual to monthly, are scheduled for the end of your current period instead: no money moves at the time you ask, and you can cancel the change until it lands.
What does full access include?
The full Solar Assistant, the education library, and every part of the platform that is live. Plan prices are on the offer page. If you are not happy with the platform, delete your paid subscription within 14 days of your first payment and get a full refund. You will receive a full refund of the subscription cost plus any un-used usage credit (not including any usage credit that was gifted from the platform to you when you first signed up). Go to Account (bottom left of the screen) and delete your account. Refunds will be processed within 5 business days.
Your account
How do I close my account?
Open Account (bottom left) → Close account. We hold your conversations, context and notes for 30 days so you can change your mind — sign back in with the same email in that time and everything is restored. After that they’re permanently deleted.
Can I change my name or email?
Both, from Account → Your details. Your name saves straight away. Your email is your sign-in, so it changes in two steps: press Edit, enter the new address, and we’ll email that address a confirmation link. Your old address keeps working until you click it, so nothing breaks if the email goes astray.
I can’t sign in — what do I do?
There’s no password to remember. Enter the email address you signed up with and we’ll email you a 6-digit code — type that in and you’re through. Codes expire after a few minutes, so if you’ve been a while, ask for a fresh one. If the email hasn’t arrived, check your spam folder and make sure you’re using the same address you signed up with — that address is your sign-in.
Installers
How do I find an installer?
Find an installer isn’t live yet — we’re building the installer directory first, and we’ll let you know the moment it opens.
How do I get listed as an installer?
Apply from the Installer page. We review your licence and accreditation, and you’ll get a clear decision (with one appeal if it’s not a yes). The standard application fee is $650. For the first 300 businesses to join we cover part or all of it: choose annual and there’s no application fee at all, or choose monthly and it’s reduced to $250, payable once you’re accepted onto the platform.
How much does an installer subscription cost?
Your rate depends on where your business is based — there are four tiers: urban, regional, rural and remote. The tier is worked out from your registered business address, not chosen by you, so a business in a capital city and one servicing a remote area don’t pay the same. Vetting corrects any edge cases. Current rates for each tier, monthly and annual, are on the Installer page.
Usage credit
What am I actually paying for?
Two separate things. Your subscription is the recurring monthly or annual price — it’s your access to the platform and everything in the Library. Usage credit is separate and pre-paid: it’s drawn down only when you use the intelligent features, which are text, voice notes and voice-to-voice on the Solar Assistant and My Solar. Reading the Library never costs usage credit.
What is usage credit and does it expire?
It’s a pre-paid balance that pays for what the assistant actually does — every question, voice note and spoken reply draws a small amount from it. Top-ups never expire, and they carry across if you change plan. When you first sign up we add a one-off welcome amount so you can try the assistant before deciding whether to add any.
What does “running low” mean?
It’s an early heads-up, not a cut-off. When your usage credit drops below $2 we tell you so it isn’t a surprise later — everything keeps working exactly as before, text and voice both. You can top up whenever it suits you.
Voice
Why has Nexus stopped speaking back to me?
Spoken replies pause when your usage credit falls below about $0.75, so a long spoken answer can’t empty your balance without warning. Nothing is broken and nothing is lost. You can still type, and you can still send voice notes — Nexus transcribes them into the chat and answers in text. Add usage credit and the spoken replies come straight back.
How do I talk to Nexus instead of typing?
On the Solar Assistant and My Solar you can send a voice note instead of typing, or hold a spoken back-and-forth conversation. Voice draws on your usage credit like text does, just a little faster because there’s speech to transcribe and speak. If you’d rather keep it to text, nothing makes you use it.
My Solar
What is My Solar?
It’s the record of your own system — panels, inverters, batteries, switchboards and the rest — kept in one place so you still have it in ten years. Once your equipment is registered, the assistant on that page answers about your gear specifically rather than in general, which is what makes it useful for faults and settings.
Why won’t My Solar answer my general solar question?
If you’re on My Solar on its own, the assistant is deliberately scoped to the equipment you’ve registered — it’s built to know your system deeply rather than everything broadly. Ask it about your own gear and it will answer. For general questions across the whole library, that’s full access and the Solar Assistant. Safety always overrides the scope: if a question touches something dangerous, it answers regardless.
